  1. Ryan’s History of Outagamie County – the original project for Fox Valley memory was the creation of a digital version of the major local history resource The History of Outagamie County Wisconsin, by Thomas Ryan. This is available now in both a PDF version and a text version.

  2. League of Women Voters of Appleton Archive – In the May 2003 League of Women Voters bulletin, an article appeared, calling for League members to clean out their basements, closets, attics, etc., and donate any old League materials that they might have stored away to a permanent archival collection that would be established at the Appleton Public Library “in the next six months.” League members worked hard over the next few years to organize the records that were collected, and to have them digitized. On August 14, 2017, the League began hosting the digital files on their own server. At this time APL removed all files from their server and redirected all links to point to the League’s archival page.

  3. UW-Madison Libraries Digital Collections: Appleton Public Library Local History includes several books that were digitized in both 2005 and 2006 through LSTA grants (Library Services and Technology Act) awarded to the Appleton Public Library.  Selected local history resources includes four historical Outagamie County plat maps, five city directories from the late 1800s, two historic building surveys and two compilations of early pioneer biographies. There are also two historical overviews, one from Appleton’s 75th Anniversary celebration in 1932, and one marking the 100 year period of 1857 – 1957. (This online collection is part of the State of Wisconsin Collection at the University of Wisconsin Digital Collections)

Containing an alphabetically arranged list of business firms and private citizens of Appleton, a miscellaneous directory of city, county and village officers, banks, buildings, churches, colleges, schools, secret and benevolent, trade and social organizations, etc. Also improved street and avenue guide, and householders’ directory of Appleton, a “buyers’ guide” and a complete classified business directory (1925). In 1925, streets were renumbered in Appleton; this directory contains the old and new numbers to aid you in tracing addresses.
